On Oct 21, 2024 my contact at Garmin support told me via email "I have sent your case up to my engineers." I have not heard anything since.
I will follow up with them just after the New Year holiday.

Re: Tread Changes Exisiting Routes - Shaping Point Issues
Got another reply today from someone who has been extremely helpful in the past. Apparently they were expecting logs from my phone call issue - not from the moving shaping point issue - but the two reference numbers seem to have become confused.
The comment about that was :
I apologise for the lack of clarity in our previous email; .... the routing related behaviour has been escalated for further investigation but is currently viewed as a Tread app limitation until we have further updates from that investigation (which is bound to take some time unfortunately); and that behaviour has been replicated.
However - they followed up on a couple of other comments that I made - which they had not come across before, so those will be added to the other evidence that I sent them. In particular the fact that although I have experienced the route changing while on the move - I never have found out when it actually does it. But I can force it with a manual sync from the phone.
The ipad on the other hand, changes the route immediately when linked by Tread and BT to the same phone - so it isn't likely to be a BT issue. That sounds to me like a tread behaviour issue.
When you get close to putting something together. Get in touch I'll update you on anything that they have said in the meantime and you can link it with my reference number if you like. Same goes for anyone else with the same complaint.
I have now got to try to reproduce the issue with my phone. Awkward - because I tested it last time with the land line, and we no longer have a landline.

In response to my email about the XT2:TheoTiger wrote: ↑27 Dec 2024 19:34 I have an XT2. I create routes for our motorcycle club using MRA. I download these routes as .gpx 1.1 (route, track, POI) to my PC. I transfer these GPX files to the SD card on my XT2. When TREAD is active on my iPhone, the routes are altered compared to the ones I created. However, the tracks remain intact. This issue has been known to dozens of users for over a year. Garmin should be ashamed if they claim this is an unknown problem to them.
My solution is not to install the TREAD app on my phone.
You disable recalculation. However, if a road closure or major traffic jam is detected on your route, it will still recalculate a new route. The result is that your planned route gets ruined.
Dear,
Thank you very much for contacting Garmin Support. We are happy to assist you. (

The issue with the Tread app has not yet been resolved.

We hope to have news about an update to fix the problem sometime next year (2025).
Our apologies for the inconvenience.
So far, the response from Garmin Support.
As a test, I replaced all Shaping points with ViaPoints. In that case, the route is not altered by Tread. If there are more than approximately 100 ViaPoints, the route is split into two parts.

Thank you @TheoTiger
This is encouraging. The first step in solving most any problem is acknowledging that there is a problem.

Yes indeed. I was encouraged to read in the snippet from the reply that I received - quoted in green in my earlier post - that the behaviour had been replicated.

And I was discouraged when they basically said "tough" in the reply I was given: https://www.zumouserforums.co.uk/viewto ... 853#p23853
Re: Tread Changes Exisiting Routes - Shaping Point Issues
Short update:
I have been waiting for an answer from Garmin for 3 months, I had given Garmin support my 2 favourite Tread App test cases (1. shaping points are moved, 2. case, the route cannot be edited/calculated). So far there has been no reply.
Then I just tried the updated versions.
Tread App 2.09.58 (2024-12-12) in combination with the latest Zumo XT2 5.40
Unfortunately no improvement regarding the recognised problems with the shaping points.
Shaping points still cause the same problems

Re: Tread Changes Exisiting Routes - Shaping Point Issues
I recently requested an update on my case and received a reply today.
Garmin support said "...engineers reported back that they expect something later this year. I don't have a timeline, but right now, their target is May/June. Things change frequently, so that date may be moved between now and then."
It's a sign of hope, consistent with what @TheoTiger posted last month.
