Good afternoon, before I call Garmin tomorrow, I wonder if anyone could shed some light on a couple of issues that I have.
I updated the maps on my XT this morning CN 2026.10, my new laptop went to sleep during the update and I lost all my CN maps on the XT unit. I have subsequently managed to install them on my PC & the XT, however when I fire up the XT, I get the error message 'cannot authenticate maps'.
I have checked the unit & the maps are present & showing full details - any idea how to get rid of the error message on start up?
Second issue, I did a factory reset to try & resolve the map issue, since then I cannot get Explore to synch with the XT & I no longer have any way points or collections visible in Explore on the XT. Everything is fine with Explore on my phone & PC.
many thanks in advance

Talk to Garmin.
If you did a system Reset, then your links to the Explore database will have been destroyed - you may have to set that up again - delete the Explore App on your phone and reinstall it - so it knows nothing - and then go through the installation on the XT from scratch.
But talk to Garmin first - the data on the Explore website should remain intact - but if it thinks that the routes, tracks, waypoints, collections have been deleted on the XT - then it may decide to synchronise those changes to the Explore site - and wipe them from there as well.
I could not possibly predict which way that is going to synch :
* Will it update the XT from what is on the Explore site - ie everything gets transferred OK
* Or will it update the Explore site from what is on the XT - ie nothing - and everything on the Explore site deleted.
Then you have the issue with the maps - caused by your laptop powering off - that could happen again.

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !
Links: Zumo 590/5 & BC . . . Zumo XT & BC . . . Navigating with Zumo Booklet

I updated mine yesterday via WiFi and it was trouble free, maybe WiFi is the way to go and not via PC or Laptop.
